The last few weeks haven't been kind to us for daily excursions. My car broke down on the freeway north of Sydney two weeks ago, and it's still recuperating in a garage in Tuggerah.
Sydney has also been experiencing a cycle of heat waves taking us over 40°C (104F) so the poor lad has been staying home where it's relatively cool, and hasn't been able to visit the beach. If Sydney had pet-accessible public transport I'd take him to one of the ocean beaches north or south of the city. Indeed it was lucky Munson wasn't with me the day the car broke down as he wouldn't have been able to catch the train back to Sydney with me.
To add to the lack of day outings, Munson has been chosen as prime target by the fleas at some of our parks, and none of the standard topical treatments is helping. Usually a combination of prolonged salt-water swimming and conscientious home scouring helps to keep numbers down, but for now my bathtub has to stand in for Botany Bay. Luckily Munson is incredibly well behaved through this entire process and simply stands or lies in the bath while I chase away unwanted residents.
Evening park visits are still on most days. There has been a big influx of new puppies to Sydney Park, quite a few of them being German Shepherds (Wilma, Uschi, Liebe) and Siberian Huskies (Shadow, Suki). Munson has wasted no time stepping in to be big brother for all the newbies.
